Our History
Inverkeithing Competitive Amateur Swimmers (InCAS) was founded in 1975, with the simple aim of giving young people in Inverkeithing and the surrounding areas the opportunity to swim, train, and compete as part of a supportive local club.
Over the decades, InCAS has grown alongside the community it serves — shaped by generations of swimmers, parents, coaches, and volunteers who have given their time, energy, and commitment to the club.
From early training sessions and local galas to representation at regional, national, and international level, InCAS has quietly built a proud record of participation and achievement. Just as importantly, the club has remained rooted in its core values: inclusion, encouragement, and creating a safe, positive environment where swimmers can develop at their own pace.
Like many long-standing amateur clubs, InCAS’s history has been carried forward largely through people rather than paperwork — through memories, stories, photographs, and shared experiences poolside. Some chapters are well documented, while others live on only in the recollections of those who were there at the time.
Now in its 51st year, InCAS is taking the opportunity to reflect on where the club has come from, to preserve its story, and to ensure that future swimmers understand the foundations on which it was built. This history is not fixed or finished — it continues to grow with every swimmer who joins, every volunteer who steps forward, and every season that passes.
If you have been part of InCAS at any point — as a swimmer, coach, volunteer, or supporter — you are part of this story.

Help Us Build Our History
InCAS has been part of the local swimming community for over five decades, but like many volunteer-run clubs, not every chapter of our story has been formally recorded.
We know there are memories, photographs, results, programmes, and stories sitting in lofts, drawers, albums, and hard drives — and we’d love to help preserve them.
If you were involved with InCAS at any point in the past — as a swimmer, parent, coach, official, or supporter — and have anything you’re willing to share, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
This could include:
-
Old photos or newspaper cuttings
-
Club programmes, gala results, or certificates
-
Stories or memories from training, competitions, or social events
-
Names of past coaches, volunteers, or key figures
-
Milestones you remember that aren’t yet captured
You don’t need everything — even small pieces help fill in the gaps and bring the club’s history to life.
If you’d like to contribute, please get in touch HERE the website or speak to a member of the coaching team poolside. Together, we can make sure the next generation understands where InCAS has come from — and the people who helped shape it.
